Brotman Residence

Jay and Lynn Brotman own a beautiful home on Laurel Road in New Haven, CT. The house retains its colonial characteristics with an addition on the North facing side of the house. The Brotman’s were looking to design another addition on the South facing side of the house to achieve a symmetrical floor plan and front facade. Property line setback constraints do not allow for the possibility of perfect symmetry, but it is implied through the nature of the design provided by NA. Paying close attention to detail, like the size of openings and selection of materials, ensures a seamless, uninterrupted, design. Jay Brotman is a member of the FAIA and is a very successful Managing Partner at the architecture firm Svigals + Partners in New Haven, CT. Lynn Brotman is a retired Associate Principal and Interior Designer at Svigals + Partners and teaches interior design at the University of New Haven. The design for their home was heavily dependent on their guidance and NA was there to assist the project digitally with CAD drawings and 3D models to help visualize the design.
